Welcome to Murray River Upper State School.
At Murray River Upper State School we pride ourselves on working together to nurture children who believe in themselves and value learning.
We are a small rural school of 70 students. Murray Upper is situated 15 minutes drive south of Tully in Far North Queensland. Turn right off the Bruce Highway travelling south from Tully and drive towards Murray Falls. Murray Upper is half way between the highway and the falls. It consists of a store and the school. The students come from the surrounding cane, pineapple, banana, paw paw and cattle farms and the Jumbun community.
40% of our students are the traditional owners of this area and come from the Girramay and Jirrbal people. The rich cultural diversity of our school makes it a unique and stimulating educational environment.
Stepping into Murray River Upper State School makes you feel part of a very caring supportive family. We have focused, dedicated teachers and staff committed to delivering an informed and stimulating curriculum. We have an enthusiastic and supportive parent body and wonderful, happy students - who really do believe in themselves and value learning.
Our grounds are returning to their previous magnificent state, following Yasi, and there's always a cuppa at the Uppa!
